aycm developed, for the first time in qatar, an app to measure household carbon footprints. this app was launched in collaboration with the ministry of education as part of the secondary curriculum in some schools.
as part of the launch strategy, teachers were trained by aycm members to understand and implement the app. however, we were frequently asked a variation of the question, ‘what is a carbon footprint?’
in a country where sustainability and environmental awareness are not part of mainstream discourse, we realised that steps needed to be taken even before launching the app.
this zine was created as an educational tool to be handed out during our 'household carbon footprint' workshops.
